about

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

Release the Hounds formed in Brisbane in 2012. A result of 3 guys coming together with a common goal, create a no gimmicks, DIY Hardcore punk band and forge their own form of “New Hardcore”.

The bands debut, self titled EP released in 2012 was recorded with highly respected Engineer Bryce Moorhead (Violent Soho, Screamfeeder) and resulted in the single Clive, and its one take, alcohol fueled and extremely filthy video getting the band instant recognition.

Towards the end of 2012 the band began to do runs of east coast shows, quickly gathering momentum before recording their second EP, “THIS TOWN” in the early stages of 2013. The DIY record, Mastered by Cam Smith (Dune Rats, DZ Deathrays) was recorded entirely in the bands basement and released mid 2013. The release sparked another run of east coast dates and a packed EP launch in a Brisbane alley that narrowly avoided police, and gained the EP reviews and recognition from Drum Press and more blogs than they knew cared.

2014, and the single Bullet's My only Weakness from the EP "THIS TOWN" has been remixed and mastered by Dave Hammer of DEFWOLF studios (Born Lion, Gay Paris, The Snowdroppers) and released mid March before the band embarked on their biggest Australian Tour to date.

Release the Hounds have played with bands such as Born Lion, Clowns, The Mercy Beat and No Anchor. They are fast, heavy and smacking the shit out of audiences inside and outside their hometown.
