17. Captives - Zombie Dog

We live on an Island. Not your typical Caribbean type place surrounded with palm trees and coconuts, this is a convict island. In the 1800s somebody came up with a great idea to pack all the dregs of society onto a wooden boat and ship them off to the other side of the world. Over one hundred and seventy three years later here we are in a Rock ‘n Roll band called “Captives”.

After spending much of the past year writing material, we set sail for Melbourne to begin recording our debut EP. Just like our ancestors who came before, we spent the days that followed locked in a small room being tortured by the producer Tom Larkin, and Engineer Ben Ehrenberg.

We tracked everything live in the studio which was something none of us had done before, and captured the sound of a band in its natural habitat. After enduring the scorching heat and creating brutal beats, we celebrated our studio parole time on a pole dancing mystery bus tour. Winning!

If we were going to describe Captives to you then this Bio would probably sound like every other on the internet these days and you would of most likely stopped reading by now, but what we can tell you is that this band is a heap of fun to be a part of, it’s sort of heavy and punk and even though at times the music may sound a little scary, we do get told we are a pretty nice bunch of dudes. If we had to come to your house for a sit down dinner with your parents we would fit right in.

So next time somebody asks you about “Captives”, you can tell them the story of five dudes who live on an island, deprived of tropical fruits making music together.
