PERTH, AUSTRALIA
In November 2013 fun loving punk rock mates Blindspot are launching their first album “Drink ‘n Laugh”. The album is a collection of varied punk inspired songs ranging from the cheeky “Breakdown In E” with a melodic 90’s punk sound, to the appropriately titled punk ska song “Skawars” through to more raw aggressive sounding tracks like “Big Fish Little Fish Cardboard Box”.
With lyrical themes especially catering to the inner nerd and inner bogan in many the album “Drink ‘n Laugh” will appeal to anyone who enjoys the energy of punk rock music especially those who like to “Drink ‘n Laugh”!
Hailing from Joondalup in the North of Perth Australia Blindspot started playing venues around Perth in 2011with the desire to create and share melodic punk music whilst getting loose and partying. After playing alongside five very different, talented drummers Mark, Azza and Ben found Steve or “number six”.
Since then Blindspot have had the privilege of sharing (and spilling beer on) the stage with many local, national and international acts.
2012 Was an exciting year for Blindspot beginning with them playing the well known Blood Rock Festival in Perth. Also during 2012 Blindspot enjoyed playing with 90’s punkers Ten Foot Pole. To finish up 2012 Blindspot released their first three track single “Where’s Wally”.
2013 so far has proved another amazing year for Blindspot, they kicked off the year by supporting pop punkers “The Story So Far” at the Amplifier Bar in Perth. Eli Gould, reviewer for
TheMusic.com.au said “Clearly enjoying the limelight supporting the iconic Australian headliners, Blindspot brought their ‘A’ game but more importantly they didn’t take themselves too seriously in true punk mode”, “This band needs more exposure. They are tight, funny and they entertained the smallish crowd still gathering. It was a great start to the night”.
By April 2013 Blindspot had been invited to play the W.A. leg of the 28 Days “UpStyle Down” Tour. Once again the lads heated up a crowd that was gathering for another yet another touring act that they all have been inspired by for years. James Birkin, reviewer for
Tonedeaf.com.au siad “kicking things off were locals Blindspot, and with a small audience to begin with, they could’ve been excused for a lacklustre start. But instead they delivered a pretty impressive, style of punk rock with a bit of humour to go along with to lighten the crowd up”
In October 2013 Blindspot hosted East Coast punk band Nerdlinger who helped them to launch their album “Drink ‘n Laugh”. Those who attended the launch show at the Prince Of Wales Hotel in Bunbury, The Beat Nightclub in Northbridge and Yayas Nightclub in Northbridge enjoyed a beer fuelled, loose, friendly and sometimes crazy few nights. Those nights reflected the album “Drink ‘n Laugh” extremely well as the Blindspot boys took their audience through their vocal harmony driven, melodic, frantic, cheeky and at times just plain in your face punk rock you wouldn’t play to your Grandmother just in case she liked it. The album “Drink ‘n Laugh will be officially released by Waterfron Records on November the 8th 2013 and released for download on itunes on November 22nd 2013. Shortly after the albums’ release Blindspot will be playing at the Perth leg of the Hits and Pits Festival alongside punk heros Black Flag, Boy Sets Fire, No Fun At All, Bad Astronaut and many others.
